The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service has confiscated the passports of four Indian investors working with Vee Oil Resources Management.
This came after the ownership was transferred to one Girish Narayan Sanadhyaha, thereby forcing the closure of production at the company.
Girish Narayan Sanadhyaha, a Hindu of 3B, 2nd Street, Osbourne Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, has held several positions in Nigeria, among which were being the former Managing Director NIPCO Plc and the Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Port in Lagos State.
About 300 Nigerians were rendered jobless owing to the indefinite suspension of production.
Those repatriated back to their home land were Sajid Ansari, Shailesh Goyal, Dipendra Kumar Yadav and Murali Manohar Singh.
Investigation showed that after the confiscation of the passports, the Immigration officers ensured that they were deported from Nigeria, a development that compelled the company to stop production.
The company is located at 9, Independence Road, Bompai, Kano State, Nigeria.
The The Engine Lubricant arm of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers NUPENG, Kano State branch described the attitude of the NIS as a “treat to foreign investors in Kano and Nigeria at large”.
NUPENG is wondering on the rights of the Nigerian Immigration Services to stop the formation of small scale enterprises that is needed to stimulate growth in industrial development among the citizenry.
Efforts by the Indian High Commission to resolve the matter failed as the Kano State Command of the NIS remained adamant.
