Pistorius granted bail

Oscar Pistorius, the South African Olympic and Paralympic star who faces a murder charge over the shooting of his model girlfriend, was on Friday granted bail.
In the ruling that lasted two hours, Desmond Nair, the magistrate, said he could not find that it had been established that “the accused is a flight risk.”
Nair also said Pistorius had not had or shown a propensity to commit violence and he was not likely to interfere with witnesses.
Nair said on Friday: “This issue before me is whether the accused, being who he is and with the assets that he has in the country, would possibly … seek to duck and dive all over the world when, even by the state’s own concession he may at worse case scenario face capital homicide.”
