Pillars, Rangers begin CAF Champions League campaign

Barely a week after the Super Eagles conquered Africa, the attention of Nigerian soccer followers is now shifted to the CAF Champions league.
Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers’ will this weekend begin their chase for honour in the CAF Champions League.
Pillars, the reigning Nigeria Premier League champions, are billed to entertain Olympic Real de Bangui of Central African Republic in the preliminary round first leg on Saturday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Kano State.
Enugu Rangers on the other hand will battle Sao Tome and Precipe flag bearer, Sporting Clube do Príncipe, on Sunday inside the Nnamdi Asikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Enugu State.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Kano Pillars, Alhaji Abba Galadima, said that the club was set to win the match by a wide margin.
“We are assured of the fact that we have prepared adequately for them and we shall beat them hands down insha Allahu on Saturday,” Galadima said.
In the same vein, Paul Chibuzor Ozor, the General Manager of Nigeria’s second representative in the Africa’s clubs foremost competition, Enugu Rangers, said his wards were battle ready.
Enyimba of Aba is the only club that has won the continent biggest club competition in Nigeria.
