As part of efforts to give fillip to his electioneering, Senator Teslim Folarin, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, has appointed Hon. Asimiyu Alarape as the Director-General of his campaign organisation.
Alarape was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003.
A statement obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, also named Victor Oluwadamilare as the organisation’s Director of Media and Strategy.
Oluwadamilare was a former Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council.
The statement described Alarape as a respected grassroots politician and a tactician.
Alarape, who holds a B.Sc degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife, Osun State, has been a member of many political associations.
They include the National Republican Convention, the United Nigerian Congress Party, All Peoples Party, Alliance for Democracy and Peoples Democratic Party.
He was also a Special Adviser to former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala on Political Matters from 2007 to 2011.
