The Obafemi Awolowo University has banned students unionism in the school until further notice.
The school was shut down earlier in the week as a result of continuous protests by students under the aegis of the Students Union Government.
They were protesting lack of water and power outages among other challenges facing the institution.
The management of the school thus shut it down and sent the students on a mid-semester break.
This was however resisted by the leadership of the SUG.
In reaction to this, the management of OAU on Thursday banned the SUG until further notice via a statement the university’s Registrar, D.A Awoyemi, who said: “The activities of the union is hereby suspended till further notice.”
The statement by Awoyemi added: “It has come to our notice that some students are yet to go home, a refusal to comply with these directives shall be regarded as violation of the university rules and regulation in general.”
