NIPR moves to check quacks in public relations practice

The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations says it will continue to partner relevant organisations to reduce quackery in public relations practice.

The Chairman of NIPR Enugu State Chapter, Chike Ezeugu, said this on Thursday when he led the executive members of the body on a courtesy visit to Prof. Samuel Ndubuisi, the Managing Director, Scientific Equipment Development Institute, Enugu.

The national headquarters of the NIPR had urged unregistered practitioners to formalise their registration.

According to Ezeugu, NIPR as a regulatory body stands for professionalism and excellence in public relations practice.

He noted that there was the need for every organisation/agency to ensure that its public relations officers or managers acquired the required professional certification.

This, he said, would help their organisations to be in tune with the standard of public relations practice.

The chairman said that the institute was collaborating with relevant organisations and agencies for a smooth relationship between their organisations and agencies as well as the public.

He said that the NIPR chapter would be hosting the Annual General Meeting for all NIPR Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries in the country across the federation, which would also create a platform for the induction of new members.

Ezeugu urged the SEDI management to take advantage of the AGM and ensure its officers were inducted.

Responding, Ndubuisi thanked the officials for the visit and described NIPR as a veritable institute for growth and professionalism.

He pledged closer collaboration with NIPR, adding that SEDI would be part of the AGM.

Also speaking, the NIPR Vice Chairman, Ebere Amaraizu, thanked SEDI management team for their warm reception.

Amaraizu said the institute would continue to uphold professionalism and excellence at all times.
