Niger PDP faction mobilises party members with N3,000 to visit Tukur in Abuja

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State, led by former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, and a former Governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kure, has called on the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to help them get a new State Secretariat.
It was reliably gathered by our correspondent that the group, led by the two PDP stalwarts to Tukur in Abuja, was as a result of the crisis tearing the party apart at the national level.
The Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, belongs to the New PDP faction and is in charge of the Niger State Secretariat of the PDP.
According to a source within the party: “We are the authentic PDP members in Niger State.
“We want to go to the national chairman to assure him that we are with him all the way.
“We also want him to help us get a new state secretariat since the governor is refusing to leave, claiming the secretariat was built with the state’s fund and owned by all.”
Our correspondent also gathered that the Jerry Gana-led group is mobilizing people from all the 25 local government areas of the state to pay a solidarity visit to Tukur on Wednesday.
The source added: “Each person that agrees to go with us from the LGA will get N3,000, while the leaders from the LGA will get N300,000 each.”
When contacted, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hassan Saba, who expressed surprise, said he was not aware and declined to comment on the issue.
