The running legal battle between David Oluwafunmi Omosule, the suspended Manager, Abuja Liaison Office of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Agency, Abuja, has taken a frightening twist.
He said unknown persons have been stalking and calling the cell number of his close ally, Wale Alake and his wife.
Omosule said the stalking and calls have been non-stop, with a threat to eliminate them.
On March 28, two Officers of the Agency, Wasiu Sule, Head, Legal Services and Secretary of OGFZA’s Board; and Alenju Ngofa, Head, Human Resources, were to be arraigned before Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna of Magistrate Court 2, Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on allegations of criminal forgery and falsification of documents.

The suspects could not be arraigned as the magistrate did not sit.
But far from the courtroom, Omosule said of the threat to Lake and his wife: “Victimization towards me and threats to my life is not unconnected with the criminal case filed by my man Friday and childhood friend against the two unscrupulous OGFZA officials.
“I have been threatened severely before I left Nigeria but I did not take them seriously.
“I have no extraneous business dealings or any other issue(s) with anybody that could warrant these threats.
“Now, they have taken it to a higher level making threat calls to my wife.
“Apparently, they are not aware that I am out of the country I suppose.
“I moved out of my Apo residence in Abuja due to their incessant threats and trailing at nights.
“My wife has been receiving calls from unknown cell numbers asking for her husband’s whereabouts and her own location.
“The idea is to get me killed to break and scare Funmilayo Omosule to drop the case.
“Just last weekend an unknown cell number called my wife (I intend to mask my wife for now for security purposes please. No details about her or her whereabouts would be released) asking her the whereabouts of her husband.
“She only told the caller(s) that her husband has travelled without disclosing the destination.
“The calls were coming incessantly and she kept telling them her husband was not at home.
“Late Sunday, March 26, the caller angrily said that soon she would find the headless body of her husband somewhere along the streets.
“He told her plainly that her husband is a dead walking corpse, that only his head will be seen for identification/burial.
“I immediately, instructed my wife to leave Abuja for Akure but the threat has since continued unabated till Monday evening.
“When she didn’t give them any information, they told her that it doesn’t matter that her husband head would soon be found with a missing body.”
On March 28, the absence of Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna stalled the arraignment of the two top officials the OGFZA over alleged criminal forgery and falsification of officials documents.
Although Ruth Idowu, who appeared for the nominal complainant, Olufunmilayo David Omosule, and the defendants’ counsel, Michael Ajara, were in court, Magistrate Iyanna was said to be indisposed.
The matter, which was on number six on the cause list before the Chief Magistrate Court was adjourned until May 30.
In the charge, Sule and Ngofa are 1st and 2nd defendants respectively.
While Ngofa was sighted at the court, Sule was not seen.
The matter, which was reassigned to Iyanna, was formerly before Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello of Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court.
The case was reassigned following the elevation of Segun-Bello to the Federal High Court as a judge.
OGFZA and Omosule had been locked in legal battle over the legality or otherwise of the plaintiff’s suspension, following his petition against some management staff of the agency on alleged corruption.
Omosule had alleged that the defendants wilfully and maliciously distorted his records “to appear as though he does not possess any requisite qualification to be employed at OGFZA or any qualification at all to be considered for promotion.”
He said their action was tantamount to forgery and falsification of documents contrary to Section 363 and 364 of the Penal Code, which is detrimental and injurious to his person.
The agency had via a letter dated April 18, 2011 suspended Omosule as the Manager of its Abuja office on the grounds that he refused to comply with its letter dated December 3, 2010, which had directed him to present the originals of his credentials for verification.
Omosule, however, refuted the claim of the authority, stating that he made available to the organisation Certified True Copies of his educational certificates/credentials, including GCE ‘O’ Level certificates and degree certificates as instructed.
Omosule had claimed that the originals of his credentials were misplaced in untraceable circumstances as at 2010 when the report to submit originals was made.
The claimant also averred that the CTCs of his certificates submitted to the agency were certified by the issuing institutions, which included the West African Examination Council and University of Ado-Ekiti, then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti.
The claimant is therefore seeking the court’s declaration that he was still a staff of the organisation and entitled to all the rights, privileges and benefits due to him by reason of his employment.
He is praying the court for an order directing the defendant to reinstate him to the position of a Director, on grade level 17, a position he claimed his contemporaries were currently.
Omosule is equally seeking for the order of the court to direct the agency to pay all his outstanding salaries, benefits and entitlement since 2011.
In addition, he is asking the court to order the organisation to pay him the sum of N50 million as exemplary and general damages.
