The father of Ladi Adebutu, Kensington Adebutu, popular known as Baba Ijebu, has rejected the endorsement of the Allied Peoples Movement for the governorship election in Ogun State on Saturday by his son.
Ladi Adebutu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, who lost the governorship ticket of the party to Senator Buruji Kashamu, had on Thursday announced an alliance with the candidate of the APM, Adekunle Akinlade, for Saturday’s poll.
In a statement by Kensington Adebutu on Friday, he expressed shock over the decision, stating that he could not fathom any reason why his son took such a step after a meeting with Governor Ibikunle Amosun without informing him.
Akinlade is Amosun’s choice for the governorship election though the outgoing governor is a member of the All Progressives Congress.
Kessington Adebutu said in the statement on Friday: “I wasn’t privy to his meeting with Governor Amosun, neither did he inform me.
“I heard the news like every other individual and wondered what could have gotten over him.
“He is on his own on this move and does not have my support.”
