The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, says about N600 million has been earmarked as part of his government’s strategic effort to boost power generation in the state.
Governor Ahmed, who dropped this hint while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress at the party’s First Stakeholders meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, said this would further ensure constant electricity supply to all parts of the state.
According to him, the present administration will continue to do everything within its resources in meeting developmental needs of the state.
Governor Ahmed, who gave a scorecard of his administration’s achievements, noted that before the end of the year, government would have actively engaged 8,000 youth under its various empowerment programmes.
This, the governor said, became imperative considering the staggering level of youth unemployment and restiveness, adding that it would continue to accord the needed attention to their yearnings.
On road projects, he assured party faithful that work would commence on the Kishi-Kaiama Road in the next few weeks, promising that more roads would be opened up and others rehabilitated by his government.
Governor Ahmed reiterated that this is aimed at complementing its operation no pot hole policy, which, according to him, made the government to be augmenting KWARMA with N30 million monthly to ensure easy movement of people and goods across the state.
While acknowledging the unflinching support of the leadership of the APC, he restated the commitment of his administration to intensify programmes that would impact positively on the lives of the people of the state.
The stakeholders meeting was attended by the state Leader of the party, Senator Bukola Saraki; a Chieftain of APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje; members of the National Assembly; local government chairmen; executive members of the party; and other stakeholders.
