A prominent Lagos politician and the Chairman of Jabita Intercontinental Hotel, Chief (Hon) Rasheed Adewale Shitta-Bey will clock 80 years on September 16, 2014.
In celebrating the life and times of the second republic House of Representatives Member, who is now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ground breaking events have been lined up by RA Shitta-Bey committee of friends and associates.
According to a press statement issued in Lagos on Monday and signed on behalf of the planning committee by Veteran Olawale Okunniyi, a special meeting of friends and associates of Shitta Bey will hold on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Jabita Intercontinental Hotel, Ikeja Lagos to formalise the weeklong celebration.
The statement further added that the former National Chairman of the Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP) will be honored by the Lagos Television, LTV8 on a special Yoruba programme “Owuro Lawa” on the morning of Wednesday, 17th September, 2014
Also being planned for September 16th, 2014, which is the actual birthday of the veteran politician the Inauguration of Shitta-Bey foundation and Public Lecture, focusing on how to deal with the ravaging Ebola epidemic at his residence at No 1a Eric Moore close, Surulere, Lagos at 11am.
The committee also announced that Chief Shitta-Bey will visit the Ebola Isolation Centre on Friday, September 19, 2014 to support those infected with the deadly virus.
The grand finale of the celebration will hold on Sunday 21st September, 2014 with a thanksgiving service at his Surulere residence, where the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye will be ministering at an auditorium donated to the church by the celebrant
This will be immediately followed by a special fundraiser by Friends and associates of RA Shitta-Bey to tackle the Ebola scourge at the grand reception of Eminent personalities expected to grace the occasion
Some of the eminent Nigerians already listed to play important role by the planning committee include; former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as Chairman of the occasion, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Former Head of State, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Special Guests of Honour, Lagos State Governor, Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Aminu Tambuwa, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola as Chief Host, Invited State Governors, Leaders of Afenifere and Traditional rulers among others
Frontline Gospel musician and preacher, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi is billed to entertain guests at the grand finale.
