A housewife, Ramat Abike, on Tuesday prayed an Area Court in Ilorin to grant her divorce prayers on grounds of domestic violence.
The petitioner told the court that her husband, Olajide Babatunde, was short tempered and beat her whenever they had a misunderstanding.
“He beats me and attempts to strip me naked in front of our neighbours.
“I am tired of his frequent beatings and abuse. I pray the court to legally separate us,” she told the court.
The presiding Judge, Hammad Ajumonbi after listening to the petitioner, said that there was the need for Babatunde to react to the accusation and the divorce application.

Ajumonbi said, considering the issue of domestic violence, an order for substituted service should be written and pasted on Babatunde’s parent’s house, for awareness.
The defendant denied any wrong treatment to the applicant.
Ajumonbi adjourned the matter until April 22, for definite hearing and to explore out of court settlement and reconciliation.
