A private Health Institute, Yusjib College of Health Sciences and Technology (YUSCOHTECH), Ilorin, Tuesday matriculated no fewer than 175 students for the 2022/2023 academic session.
The College’s Board Chairman, Prof. Mikail Buhari, advised the new intakes to face their studies, so they can contribute their quota to the development of the health sector.
Represented by Dr Sukurat Okesina, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Aisha Buhari Maternal and Child Hospital, Eyenkorin, Ilorin, Buhari also urged them to ensure they work hard to come out with good grades so that they can have the opportunity to gain admission into universities of their dream.
The Resource Person for the ceremony, Jimoh Mustapha, admonished the students to ensure good grades to go study pharmacy in any accredited institution for the course, because YUSCOHTECH’s technician courses are certified already.
He said the chances of them not looking for jobs as it is in the past was still as there would always be a need for health workers and technicians.
The Proprietor and Provost of the College and the Chief Medical Director of Yusjib Medicare Industrial Hospital, Dr AbdulRaheem Yusuf, thanked the institution’s board members for their commitment to the growth of the college, even though they are still at their temporary site.
He said the permanent site of the college is along Ogbondoroko Afon express road and construction has started in earnest, and that by God’s grace, the next matriculation, academic activities would be at the new site.

According to him, the college has indexed about 450 students with different boards of regulatory bodies, including Community Health Registration, Pharmacy Council of NIGERIA (PCN), Medical Laboratory Science Environmental Registration Boards.
He also said the college is the only institution in Kwara that the University of Ibadan College of Health (UCH) accredited for the tutors students training programme.
While commending the efforts of staff and the board members, Yusuf said all that the institution had achieved were within two and half years of its establishment.
