The priest, who was a member of the congregation of the Claretian Missionaries Eastern Province, Nigeria, was said to be heading to Saint Mark’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Obinze Barracks, where he served as a chaplain to conduct the day’s mass service for the men of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
It was gathered that the assailants waylaid him on the road near a pathway before Avu Junction on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri and dragged him out of his Sport Utility Vehicle vehicle before pumping bullets into his chest.
He died on the spot.
According to sources, the assailants did not take any money from the priest’s car after killing him.
