The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has threatened to sack commissioner-nominees who celebrate in Uyo, the state capital, when their appointments are confirmed by the State House of Assembly.
To this end, the governor has detailed security agents to monitor the activities of the nominees who may flout his directive.
Eno said except for those from Uyo, others must celebrate their confirmation with members of their constituencies once confirmed.
The governor, who handed down the order during the inauguration of the Bureau of Statistics Board, Labour and Industrial Committee at the Government House, said the directive stemmed from the government’s desire to ensure that appointees have strong ties with the grassroots.
