Elderson Echiejile will miss Monaco’s next two Ligue 1 outings after the Professional Football League handed him an additional one-match ban for his red card against Lille.
The Nigeria international was due to sit out the visit of Marseille on Sunday night following his dismissal for a dangerous challenge on Sebastien Corchia during the second half of the 4-1 defeat to LOSC last weekend.
However, the LFP Disciplinary Committee took further action after reviewing the incident on Thursday and informed Les Rouges et Blancs that Echiejile is also suspended for the trip to Rennes next weekend.
It was the first time the 28-year-old left-back had been sent off for Leonardo Jardim’s side, although he has received seven yellow cards in his first two seasons at Stade Louis II, with six coming this term alone.
