Federal University, Gusau, on Wednesday, announced the promotion of 262 senior and junior members of staff after serving the institution for three years.
The information is in a statement signed by the Information Officer of the university, Malam Umar Usman in Gusau.
He stated that the promotion was approved by both senior and junior staff establishment committees of the institution, following recommendations of heads of departments of the promoted staff.
Usman said: “The promotion of senior staff was approved by the Senior Staff Establishment Committee during its maiden meeting held on Thursday, April 12, while that of junior staff was approved at the first meeting of Junior Staff Establishment Committee held between April 11 and April 19.
“The promotions were effective from Jan. 1, 2018 and the beneficiaries had already been paid all their arrears.
“The beneficiaries comprised of 55 teaching staff promoted to their next levels, 56 senior non-teaching staff and 80 junior staff promoted to senior cadre, while another set of 71 junior staff were promoted, but remained in the junior cadre.”
The information officer quoted the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Magaji Garba, as saying that “the promotion was done to ensure that all staff were placed properly”.
The vice chancellor also said the promotion was to boost the morale of staff so that the university could get the best out of them and make them feel comfortable working there.
He also urged staff to put in their best for the development of the young university.
Federal University, Gusau, was established in 2013.
