Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, to speak at Nigeria’s youth summit

The founder of Facebook, a social networking website, Mark Zuckerberg, is scheduled to visit Akwa Ibom State in May this year as one of the guest speakers at a youth economic summit organized by the Niger Delta Young Professionals.
The Chairman of Niger Delta Young Professionals, Moses Siasia, dropped this hint on Thursday when he paid a courtesy visit on the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, at the Governor’s Office, Uyo.
Siasia, who is currently attending a two-day retreat in the state, used the occasion to invite Akpabio as a Special Guest of Honour to the summit billed for Uyo, the state capital, between May 28 and 29, this year.
He said the summit is the coming together of young professionals in the Niger Delta to promote entrepreneurship, looking at economic challenges in the states and creating employment for the youths.
The chairman explained that the Niger Delta Young Professionals is made up of young professionals from different backgrounds, tribes and states coming together to tackle the challenges and bring about the desired change in the Niger Delta states.
Siasa further commended Akpabio for transforming the state through infrastructure: good road network, health and education sector.
He said that his leadership qualities was needed in the Niger Delta to bring to an end youth restiveness and called on leaders of other states to emulate the leadership qualities of Akpabio.
Responding, Chief Akpabio, who thanked them for visiting the state and appreciating the infrastructure of the state, pointed out that he was determined to make government work in the state, stressing that success starts from budgeting in government, which had led to “Uncommon Transformation” in the state.
Akpabio enjoined them to put in their best at their place of work and said success could only come with hard work, remarking that in Akwa Ibom State, youths are occupying key positions in the state and that the state is the most youth friendly state of the federation.
The governor pledged to assist them in hosting the forthcoming youth economic summit that would take place in the state, and commended the Niger Delta youths for not engaging in militancy but as future leaders have resolved to develop the region.
