Ekiti APC alleges phantom kidnap of PDP chieftain

The All Progressives Congress, Ekiti State chapter, has said it has uncovered plans to stage a fake kidnap of a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in the state anytime from Monday (today).
Specifically, the party said, the masterminds of the dastardly act are allegedly being recruited by the some PDP gubernatorial aspirants in the state, who claim to have strong connections to Abuja.
They are allegedly planning to hang the phantom kidnap around the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yemi Adaramodu, and other principal officers of the state and the ruling party.
According to the statement signed by the Director of Publicity and Media of APC in Ekiti State, Segun Dipe, there is a strong suspicion that the PDP, which is just waking up from its troubled sleep in the state, has started carving some dastardly acts for itself, in its unbridled passion for power at the devil’s cost.
This latest development, Dipe said, is part of a grand plot by the PDP to create a state of chaos that would culminate in its long sought so-called state of emergency, bearing in mind that with the unprecedented developmental governance ongoing under the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration in the state, it is almost impossible for them to win an election fair and square.
The statement also said it is of note that Ekiti State was a state under siege for seven years under the PDP until October 16, 2010 when normalcy returned with the swearing in of Fayemi.
The statement said before Fayemi’s government came on board, kidnapping, armed robbery and other vices were the order of the day in the state.
The statement added: “A testimony to the brigandage and chaos in the PDP was evident during the last congress of the Party where cutlasses, cudgels, guns and other dangerous weapons were freely used on their fellow party men.
“We are calling on the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Adviser, The Directorate of State Security and other relevant security agencies in the country to be on guard for the introduction of unwarranted crisis in the state. Kidnap is alien to us in Ekiti and APC members will be the last get involved in such heinous act.
“We are pre-empting their plans. We are dissociating our peace-loving party from any act capable of tampering with the peace of the land and we are dissociating the Chief of Staff, Yemi Adaramodu or any of our political appointees for that matter, from any trumped-up charge.”
