The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has re-arrested a former Director of the Police Pension Office, Yakubu Yusuf, who was convicted on Monday after confessing to his role in the stealing of N32 billion pension fund.
Yusuf was sentenced to two years imprisonment or a N250,000 fine by Justice Mohammed Talba of a Federal High Court, Abuja.
He promptly paid the fine and was let off.
But the EFCC re-arrested Yusuf in his Abuja home on Monday night and slammed fresh charges bordering on failure to fully disclose his assets and liabilities in the assets declaration form he submitted.
He was accused of not declaring his interest in a company, SY-A Global Services Limited, incorporated by him and solely owned by him and members of his immediate family.
The offence is said to be punishable under Section 27(3) of the EFCC Act, 2004.
The case was filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Yusuf was also accused of failing to declare his interest in a N250 million fixed deposit in the name of SY-A Global Services Limited in an account in Zenith Bank International Plc, of which he is the sole signatory.
The company was also alleged to have another N10 million fixed deposit in an account in First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
He was also said to have fixed another N29 million through one Danjuma Mele, who is going to serve as a prosecution witness in the case.
Mele’s company, Jidag Technical Services Limited, was used in fixing the said N29 million in Diamond Bank Plc.
