The traditional ruler of Uvwie Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Ekemejewan Sideso, Abe I, has charged the leaders of Arewa Consultative Forum to show more commitment in the fight against the Boko Haram sect.
The monarch, who said Northerners have contributed immensely to the prevailing peace in his Kingdom, irrespective of their ethnic, political and religious backgrounds, maintained that this remains the only way that insurgency could be checked.
Sidesi stated this in his palace along Jakpa Road, Effurun, when the Arewa community in Uvwie Kingdom came to present their new leader, Alhaji Suleiman Jau’ru, to him for blessing.
According to the monarch, for decades, the relationship between Uvwie people and Arewa community has been cordial.
He said: “Arewa people, both at the state and national level, should rise up and support President Goodluck Jonathan and other well-meaning Nigerians in fighting the menace of Boko Haram so that meaningful peace and development can be recorded in Nigeria.”
The monarch, who recently splashed an award of University scholarship on an Hausa Medical female student that was born and brought up in Uvwie Kingdom, warned them against indulging in any act capable of truncating the existing relationship between the Uvwie indigenes and Arewa people.
Alhaji Jau’ru, flanked by the spokesperson of the group, Alhaji Jawal Inosa, who pledge not to betray the confidence reposed in him and shun any divisive tendency within the Kingdom, promised to hold the monarch in high esteem.
