The ban placed on the operating licence of Dana Airline has been lifted again.
Dana Airline was shut out of the skies again by the Ministry of Aviation for undisclosed reasons on Saturday.
The airline had initially been banned after one of its aircraft, operating a scheduled service from Abuja to Lagos, crashed last year.
The crash, which occurred on June 3, 2012, left the 153 passengers and crew members on board dead and an unspecified number also died on ground.
The latest ban was said to have been occasioned by a faulty aircraft in the Dana Airline fleet.
According to a statement by Joe Obi, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, though the airline has been given the go ahead to resume operations immediately, the aircraft in question must be re-certified by Boeing before it can be allowed to fly again.
Obi said in a statement on Monday: “Officials of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority met with the Management team from Dana Airlines today in Abuja and deliberated on some safety issues in connection with the operations of the airline.
“At the end of the meeting, the suspension of the operations of the airline which took effect last Saturday was lifted. The airline is to resume normal operations immediately.
“However, the particular aircraft which had a snag over the weekend is to remain grounded until after its air-worthiness has been recertified by Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft.”
