In a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said since the arrest of the lawmakers for carrying out their statutory duty of approving a budget cannot be justified by any law, it is clear to all discerning Nigerians that the only motive can be to harass and intimidate the lawmakers of a state that recently escaped from the hell-hole called the Peoples Democratic Party to join the APC

He said: “Despite that there is a pending suit number HAD/35/2013 filed against the Ekiti State Signage Agency and the State Attorney-General, demanding the payment of N100 million as general damages, N2.25 million being the cost of fabrication and installation of the billboards and signposts over the wanton destruction of our billboards last April, agents of the government have been moving around, destroying our posters

In an address to members of the press at the Government House, Kano on Monday, the state Governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, stated that the public officials were apparently arrested in connection with the budget amendment of 2013 of the state government, which he has already been signed into law

Buhari added that the party would rule Nigeria no matter the opposition from other political parties.

The party noted the various politicians and political parties in the state had been going about their political activities in very peaceful and responsible manner devoid of any allegation of molestation before Bamidele and his men started introducing violence into the politics of the state, using imported thugs from neighbouring states
