The decision to present a Christian candidate, it was learnt emerged after due consultations with eminent Christian leaders and clerics who have promised to mobilise other faithfuls to vote en masse for the party if a Christian emerges as gubernatorial candidate in the state

According to him, “it is the constitutional right of the president to seek second term, having only been elected into the office once and it is in the interest of peace, justice and equity that those of us who are advocates of equitable power sharing in Nigeria should support him

“If a Governor is elected on the platform of a political party, the honourable thing for that Governor to do is to respect the mandate given to him by the people and complete the tenure under the platform of that party; or else he should quit the post if he thinks that he no longer believes in the party under which he was elected,” the statement said

A statement issued on Friday by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser to the state PDP Chairman, declared the dissolution null and void, saying it was in possession of a subsisting Court Judgment delivered on Monday, November 25, 2013, by Hon Justice Iyayi Lamikanra perpetually restraining Gov Rotimi Amaechi, his agents, privies etc from suspending, dissolving and or doing anything that will truncate the tenure of the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Council, Hon Prince Timothy Nsirim, his Vice and the 17 Councilors
