A Japanese film maker, Sachiko Yamagishi, has been appointed as the centre referee for the Super Falconets and New Zealand quarterfinal clash at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Canada.
Yamagishi, an actress, known for Strange Circus, was honoured by the appointment to take the centre stage between Nigeria and the Kiwi counterparts on Sunday.
She said: “I would like to cherish everyday of my life and will go into the match in good condition both mentally and physically.
“I want to express my gratitude towards people who always support me.
“Without forgetting to enjoy every moment, I will cooperate with everybody and put all my efforts to make this tournament wonderful one.”
The Japanese referee, Yamagishi, will be assisted by Allyson Flaynn and Sarah Ho from Austria, while China’s Qin Liang, who was at the centre when Nigeria defeated their England counterparts 2-1 in the final group game, is the fourth official.
The quarterfinal, billed for 9pm Nigerian time on Sunday, is slated for 8,000 capacity Moncton Stadium, which was commissioned in 2010.
