Nigeria’s Rangers International of Enugu on Sunday picked a vital win against hosts, Pyramid FC in Cairo, Egypt to keep hope alive of qualifying for the quarter final of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Enugu-based team is now on the third spot with five points from five matches on the log after pipping Pyramid FC 1-0 on Sunday.
The former Nigeria league champions must beat Al Masry in their final group game in Enugu on February 2 in order to make it to the final eight of the competition.
At the Aba Township Stadium, Enyimba also forced visiting Hassania Agadir to a one-all in a tension sapping encounter.
The Moroccan side through French defender Redah Atassi stunned the home team early in the first half before Austine Oladapo saved Enyimba’s blushes with a long range effort.
With seven points from five games, Enyimba is currently placed second behind Hassania Agadir.
The Salisu Yusuf-lads must pick the maximum three points when they face San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire on February 2 to qualify for the next round of the competition.
The eventual winner of the competition will get $1.25 million, while the runner up, semi finalists and the quarter finalists would be rewarded with $0.625 million, $0.45 million and $0.35 million respectively.
