Some Nigerians have descended on the Shoprite mall in Osapa, Lekki area of Lagos.
Videos of the attack have gone viral on the social media.
Shoprite is a South African brand and business.
One of the videos seen by The Eagle Online showed a lot of Nigerians gathered at the entrance of the mall, prevented from going in by security operatives.
The second one showed some scattered shelves within the supermarket, with some staff following the attackers around.
The attack is coming following persistent destruction of businesses owned by Nigerians and other nationals in South Africa, with the latest happening on Sunday.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, to meet with the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, over the issue.
But Monroe denied that the attacks in South Africa were xenophobic and targetted at only Nigerians.
He said the businesses of even South Africans were affected.
