The Nigeria Police has announced a ban on public procession, rallies and demonstrations in Bayelsa State.
The Deputy Inspector General in charge of administration and overseer of the governorship poll in the state, Hashimu Argungu, announced the ban on Monday.
Argungu said in a statement that information at the disposal of the police has it that some disgruntled elements are planning to carry out illegal demonstrations and rallies.
Meanwhile, the state is awaiting the results of the governorship election from only two local government areas now.
The local government areas are Southern Ijaw and Nembe.
The results from six local governments have been announced.
The state has eight local government areas.
