The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, has derided his rival in the ruling All Progressives Congress, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, for accepting being a puppet to interests working against the development of the state.
In a statement issued by the Media Office of the Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation in Lagos on Monday, the governorship hopeful maintained that the state could ill afford enthroning a puppet as its helmsman.
Agbaje said Lagosians had made up their minds to buy into his FREEDOM gospel at the forthcoming election, “and Puppet Sanwoolu and his Puppeteers of Corruption and Impunity can do nothing about their own inevitable disgrace.”
According to him, it was noteworthy that Sanwoolu did not contest the label of puppet.
His words: “The APC Governorship Candidate has affirmed and confirmed my assertion that he is a stooge and a puppet to interests working against the development of the state. Particularly interesting is Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu accepting that his allegiance would be to this corrupt cartel in the APC rather than to the good people of Lagos State. Need we say more about the danger this poses to the democracy and development of our dear state?”
Agbaje dismissed Sanwo-Olu’s statement of being properly groomed to govern the state by the selfish interests, saying it was a superfluous and unreasonable attempt to turn logic upside down.
He wondered: “How will a grown man, a husband to a woman and a father of children, sell his soul to the devil and tie his destiny to certain tendencies that do not mean well for the interest of the state?”
Commenting on Sanwo-Olu’s claim to experience, Agbaje said: “What experience is he talking about? His pseudo-experience is laced with failure that has spanned over 20 years. Let people ask him: What records does he have to flaunt for all the positions he has held?
“Maybe he needs to be schooled that Lagos, which his party claims is doing well, has been described under their watch as an urban jungle. This assertion has been confirmed by a Minister in their government as well as various non-partisan organisations that have scored the state negatively on numerous indices and indicators.”
