Senators and members of the House of Representatives will spend another N6.4 billion for the purchase of official vehicles in 2017.
This was after initial purchase of official vehicles for lawmakers in 2016, which cost N7.5 billion.
In 2016 budget, the House had allocated N3.6 billion for the purchase of the cars, while the Senate spent N3.9 billion for senators’ official vehicles.
Also in same 2016, the National Assembly Management purchased 10 official vehicles for the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, which cost N330 million.
In addition, the same National Assembly management purchased Range Rover bullet proof Jeep also for Saraki worth N62 million.
In the 33-page budget of the National Assembly released late on Thursday after the passage of the budget, the Senate will spend N424 million on photocopying machines and other office equipment, while the House will spend N353 million on the same.
In addition, the upper legislative chamber will spend N293 million on the printing of non-security document and N247 million on medical supplies, while the lower legislative chamber will spend N686 million on printing and N503 million on medical supplies.
For refreshments and meals, senators will spend N409 million; for publicity and advertisement, N1.4 billion; while their counterparts in the House will gulp N913 million for the same items.
For security services, the Senate will spend N449 million, while the House has N960 million for the same purpose.
