Many polling units in Yola North, Mubi North, Hong, Numan, Girei and Lamurde Local Government Areas were yet to receive election materials as at noon on Saturday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Hundreds of voters that turned out for the local government election in Adamawa State decried the delayed commencement of voting.
“We are disappointed. No materials, no explanation from any official,” a potential voter Musa Ibrahim, said.
However, in Mubi South where the materials arrived on time, voting started on schedule as voters were accredited and voted simultaneously.
Alhaji Abubakar Abdulrahaman, member representing Mubi South in the State House of Assembly, lauded the early arrival of materials and commencement of voting there.
Abdulrahman, however, urged the State Independent Electoral Commission to introduce card reader in subsequent elections to make it more credible.
