NFF Scribe’s return stalls FIFA hammer action

The return of the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Musa Amadu to the secretariat of the football federation may have stalled the threat from the world soccer governing body, FIFA to clamp indefinite ban on Nigeria.

The chief scribe of the federation, who returned to the Glass House alongside the directors of competitions, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and his marketing counterpart, Idris Adama, noted that his resumption would send signal to Nigerians and the world at large that normalcy is returning to the football family.

While revealing that he has already communicated the world soccer governing body and the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), he said: “I have written and copied CAF that I came to the office and operated unhindered. I feel that this will dissuade FIFA from implementing the threat to ban Nigeria.”

Amadu who spoke earlier on arrival in the office around 10.00am, said: “I think that my being here today is to send a message that Nigeria football have to move forward. We will put the crisis behind us and come together to move football forward. We need to make sacrifices collectively and individually to move on. At the end of the day, any person who is patriotic not say he will not give peace a chance.

“We were obviously told to do certain things by today and part of it is for us to run the affairs of the game without any hindrance. I am happy to say that we have cone and met a very peaceful house. The staff are happy to be here and they are going about their business without any hindrance. This is a good omen and good sign of things to come.

“We want to appeal to everybody to please give peace a chance. I also hole that the first extra ordinary congress that the NFF has been mandated to hold holds within the shortest possible time to throw up a very short roadmap for election into the executive board within a shortest possible time.”

Asked whether his resumption was an indication that Chris Giwa and his team have vacated office as demanded by FIFA, Amadu noted “I haven’t communicated anything including my resumption to FIFA, I will have to wait till the end of the working day to see developments but I have to say that things are looking positive and bright. Like I said, we all have to shear our swords, give peace a chance and let the Secretariat run the affairs so that we would have the two Annual General Assembly within the shortest possible time,” he said.
