Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, is dead.
He died Wednesday morning. He was 91-years old.
The emir’s death was confirmed by the media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Abubakar Ibrahim, in a Facebook post Wednesday morning.
He, however, did not give details of the incident.
Gaya is one of the four new emirates created in 2019 by Governor Abdulahi Ganduje.
Ganduje, in 2019, split the Kano Emirate into five: Kano, Gaya, Rano, Bichi and Karaye.
Until then, there used to be only one emir (Kano).
Emir Abdulkadir’s death followed that of the Emir of Rano, Abubakar Illa Tafida, who died on May 2, 2020.
