A Federal High Court in Abeokuta has told the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and the state House of Assembly that they cannot scrap the Tai Solarin University of Education.
This followed a restraining order the court granted the Students Union Government of the institution, which approached it seeking for the order.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia granted the order on Tuesday.
Ofili-Ajumogobia said: “All actions on the merger of the third (TASUED) and fifth (Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye) defendants are hereby suspended until the final determination of the Motion on Notice dated February 9, 2012.”
The suit was instituted by Adewunmi Tosin, Olayemi Bose, Salaudeen Kazeem Olamilekan, Abiodun Sunday and Uthman Tajudeen Olusegun.
The respondents are Amosun; the Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; the Academic Staff Union of Universities, TASUED branch; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye; Tai Solarin College of Education; the National Universities Commission; and the Ogun State House of Assembly.
