A woman, Abigael Ogunyinka, was on Friday morning rescued by fishermen after she jumped into the lagoon in Lagos State.
Ogunyinka was said to have jumped into the lagoon at Ebute Ero area of Lagos State.
Her house help, who was with her at the time she jumped into the lagoon, quickly rushed to local divers around the area who rescued her.
Ogunyinka, according to available information, lives in Alakuko area of Lagos State.
She is reported to sell a local delicacy, amala, in Sango area of Ogun State.
She is said to be indebted to a microfinance bank, a debt she has been unable to pay.
She put the debt at N150,000.
Her age was put at about 71.
Policemen were said to have arrived at the scene at about the time the house help shouted for help.
The policemen, of the Lagos State Police Command, were said to have taken her to a nearby hospital.
