A Federal High Court sitting in Bukuru, Jos, Plateau State has granted the prayers of Giwa FC seeking its reinstatement into the Nigerian Professional Football League.
The League Management Company had recently expelled Giwa FC from the League for failing to honour its home matches at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
Giwa was banished to Ilorin by the LMC over crowd trouble.
But while the team left honouring its away matches, it was not playing its home matches in Ilorin.
Counsel to Giwa FC, S. D. Ekara, had tabled five prayers before the Court.
In a judgement delivered by vacation judge, Justice I. I. Kunda, on Friday, the LMC and the Nigerian Football Federation were restrained from preventing Giwa Football Club from playing matches in the Nigerian Professional Football League pending the determination of the motion on notice.
The Judge also ordered the first and second respondents to reschedule all the matches that Giwa FC failed to play as a result of its purported expulsion from the league.
The LMC was also ordered to immediately return all the players of Giwa FC that were summarily released and signed by other clubs.
Justice Kunda fixed August 23, 2016 for the hearing of the motion on notice.
Giwa FC is owned by disputed President of the NFF, Barrister Chris Giwa.
He has engaged Amaju Pinnick in a bitter fight for the leadership of the NFF.
