Loud Whispers’, stage play featuring Ali Baba, set to hit theatres

“Loud Whispers”, a stage play by Katunga Media, featuring foremost Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, is to debut in the theatres on May 1.
Betty Abang, the Managing Director of Katunga Media, made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.
The statement said: “It is thrilling to finally bring the play to theatre lovers in Nigeria.
“The event which coincides with Worker’s Day (May 1), also aims to present workers with an enjoyable entertainment alternative for unwinding.
“The play takes a light hearted look at otherwise critical issues in Nigeria with a bid to relieving tension and to build positive discourse on their resolutions.
“We would like to thank all our sponsors and partners for making the play a reality.”
Abang explained that the play was an adaptation of a similar-named book written by Joseph Edgar, a theatre enthusiast.
She said: “Edgar’s book has elicited so much laughter and attention through its acerbic but comical banter on very topical issues.
“Ali Baba and a 20-man cast will be performing a series of monologues through a mixture of dance and song.”
According to Abang, the drama cast include Patrick Diabuah , Paul Alomona, Tony Okuyeme and Tony Offiong.
The statement quoted William Benson, the Director of the play, as saying: “The play was designed to thrill and excite theatre lovers, especially Ali Baba fans.
“It promises to be an exciting outing as theatre lovers will have the unique opportunity of watching Ali Baba in a genre crossing role delivering tongue in cheek quotes.
“He will entertain the crowd in ways we have come to regard and respect him.”
The play was jointly produced by popular broadcaster, Olisa Adibua, Shina Peller of Quilox and Mofoluwake Edgar.
It will make first theatre appearance in Lagos by Katunga Media, a leading African marketing communications agency.
