The Adamawa State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday said it issued 351,963 Permanent Voter Cards to Internally Displaced Persons in the state.
The INEC Public Affairs Officer in the state, Rifkatu Maxwell, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Yola.
Maxwell said over one million PVCs had been distributed to registered voters in the state.
She added: “As at January 17, 2015, statistics show that we have distributed 1,208,999 PVCs to registered voters across the 21 councils in the state.
“Among those that collected their PVCs were 351,963 Internally Displaced Persons from seven affected local government areas.”
Maxwell said the affected areas were Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Mubi North, Mubi South, Hong and Gombi local government areas.
The public affairs officer said there was a total of 320,637 uncollected PVCs and that Yola North Local Government Area had the highest total number of registered voters of 142,419 and that 93,943 voters had collected their PVCs.
She added that Toungo Local Government Area had the lowest registered voters with a total of 30,081 and 26,773 voters had collected their PVCs.
Maxwell said Madagali Local Government Area had a total of 66,084 registered voters and that 57,363 PVCs were distributed.
In Michika, she added, there was a total of 82,291registered voters and 66,197 IDPs had collected their PVCs under that council.
She said the distribution of PVCs was ongoing across the state, including designated areas for the IDPs.
