The President, Nigerian Guild of Editors, Femi Adesian, has said that no fewer than 300 editors would attend the 9th All Nigerian Editors Conference billed for Asaba, Delta State.
Adesina disclosed this on Wednesday in Asaba when he led the executive members of the body on a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Information in Delta State, Chike Ogeah.
He thanked the state government for the support and logistics it gave the association to make the conference a success.
He said that the conference, which commenced on Wednesday, would end on Saturday.
The President said that the conference, with the theme: “Nigerian Beyond Oil”, would x-ray issues on how Nigeria could survive without depending on revenue from the export of crude oil.
Responding, Ogeah thanked members of the Guild for selecting the state as the venue of their conference and assured them of adequate security and logistics support throughout their stay in the state.
He said that the government had already keyed into theme of the conference, adding that the “Delta Beyond Oil” agenda of the government was already yielding results.
Ogeah said that the implementation of the agenda was already impacting positively on the Internally Generated Revenue and some sectors of the economy.
He said that the sectors included tourism, agriculture, small and micro businesses and Information and Communication Technology.
He promised to take the editors on a tour of infrastructure projects in the state, especially the Asaba International Airport among others.
