We’ve deployed strategies to stop Boko Haram’s infiltration of Abuja — Police

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command said it has deployed strategies to stop Boko Haram from infiltrating Abuja.

The disclosure by the police followed a video that had gone viral alluding to Boko Haram infiltrating Nigeria’s seat of power.

The spokesman of the FCT Police Command, Mariam Yusuf, who reacted to the development, said there was nothing to be scared of.

Yusuf said the Command had deployed both overt and covert strategies to counter any plan of the terrorist group to attack Abuja.

She said in a statement in the early hours of Saturday: “The Police Command wishes to reassure residents of adequate protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.

“This reassurance is necessitated by  a viral publication in the social media suggesting ‘Areas within the FCT vulnerable to Boko Haram attack’.

“On the contrary, the Command has deployed overt and covert strategies to curb banditry and other criminal activities across the territory.

“In addition, the Command has launched a renowned social engagement strategy to address the security concerns in the FCT.

“Hence, we enjoin members of the public to provide useful information to the Police and other security agencies rather than circulate messages capable of causing undue panic amongst the well-spirited residents of the FCT.

“On this note, we wish to reaffirm our undeterred resolve towards the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory.”
