The Independent National Electoral Commission Commissioner in charge of South South, Dr. Lecky Mustapha, has said the commission is ready to conduct free and fair polls on Saturday.
Mustapha said this while supervising electoral materials in Port Harcourt Local Government Area (Phalga) on Friday evening.
The rerun elections will be conducted in the three senatorial districts for senatorial seats, eight federal constituencies for the representatives’ seats and 10 state constituencies for state assembly seats.
Mustapha said that both sensitive and non-sensitive materials were being moved to the Registration Area Centres.
Mustapha noted that card readers had been deployed to the Local Government Areas.
He said adequate logistics had been put in place for the success of the polls.
Mustapha urged party chairmen to call their agents to order to ensure peaceful elections and lamented the harassment of electoral officials by party agents.
He also advised politicians against unguarded utterances.
Mustapha stated that adequate security had been put in place to ensure the success of the polls.
At Etche local government area, the INEC Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of success achieved in the distribution of electoral materials in the area.
He commended both the electoral officials and security agents for the security and orderliness in the handling of electoral materials and personnel.
Mustapha also commended the logistic arrangements for the movement of materials and personnel to their locations.
