Barely 24 hours after suspending a six-week industrial action over unpaid salaries, the Nigeria Labour Congress, Osun State chapter on Tuesday evening directed civil servants in the state to embark on strike again.
The latest directive stemmed from the meeting held by the labour leaders over the payment of half salaries to workers from levels 8 and above for January.
Giving the directive after the meeting on Tuesday evening, the state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Jacob Adekomi, said the decision of the state government to pay half salaries to some categories of workers negated the content of Memorandum of Understanding signed by representatives of the government.
Adekomi maintained that efforts were already on to communicate workers who complied with the order of the labour to resume work on Tuesday not to report for duties on Wednesday.
According to Adekomi, the resolve of the labour before now was to suspend the strike, explaining that they did not call off the strike, but the evolving situation had compelled them to resume the strike.
