Two armed robbery suspects were arrested on May 4, 2021 by men of the Ogun State police command who were on routine patrol.
The two suspects –Rasheed Ayinde, 20, and Matthew Oladipupo, 33, were sighted on a motorcycle by the Divisional Police Officer of Onipanu Division, CSP Bamidele Job, and his team.
On sighting the policemen, the suspects attempted to make a u-turn, but were stopped by the team who suspected their movements.
When a search was conducted on them, one locally made pistol and one live cartridge as well as assorted charms were found on them.
On interrogation, they confessed being on their way to carry out a robbery operation. They claimed to be resident in Abeokuta, but operate in Onipanu and Atan Ota area.
The public relations officer of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
