Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested for dispossessing one Nonso Nwibo, a rice merchant, of N120,000 cash at the Ipamesan area of Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Sango-Ota division, CSP Godwin Idehai, that robbers had invaded Nonso’s shop and robbed him of N120,000 as well as his Techno handset at gun point.
The DPO quickly led his men to the scene, but on sighting the policemen, the robbers fled, but one of them, Sadiq Hassan, was arrested with a locally made pistol.
Following diligent investigation, the second suspect, Kudus Rasak, was apprehended on the 19th of April 2021, at a hideout at Owode Ijako. A live cartridge was also recovered from him,” a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbol Oyeyemi, said.
He said the two suspects have confessed to being the ones who robbed Nonso of his valuables.
The Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
