The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned three men before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing and receiving stolen batteries from a stationary truck.
The defendants – Oladejo Julius, 38; Chukwujeku Orawumba, 37, and Usman Aliyu, 52 – whose addresses were not given, are facing three counts of stealing, selling and receiving stolen properties.
The prosecutor, Akpan Nkem, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between January and October at Seme border.
Nkem said that Julius stole the batteries from a stationary truck, belonging to one Obinna Nduruo.
“Two of the defendants, Aliyu and Orawumba, received the batteries knowing same to have been stolen,” the prosecutor said.
The offences contravened sections 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, admitted the defendant to bail of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until December 2, for further hearing.
