The book, titled: “Dynamics of the Nigerian Financial System,” edited by Prof. Michael Ogbeide, is a compilation of essays on the Nigerian financial system in honour of Oduoza, who retires at the end of July, having completed his two terms of three years each at the helm of the pan-African financial institution

Elumelu, the Chairman of African investments company, Heirs Holdings, UBA Plc and Transcorp Plc, delivered a keynote speech at the event, where he advocated for the collaboration of the private and public sectors to create value in the global competitive business landscape

Elumelu said: “Over the course of my career, I have learned that when you achieve a certain amount of experience and a certain amount of success, it is important to reflect on what principles, practices and decisions led you to success. When you find those key elements, it is important to pass that knowledge along, so that others may learn from your success, and also your mistakes

During remarks to announce the Summit and his plans to participate, President Obama thanked the global coalition of entrepreneurship organizations that collaborated with his administration to launch the Spark campaign for global entrepreneurship, a campaign in which the Tony Elumelu Foundation is a founding member. The President went on to say to the entrepreneurs present, “Entrepreneurship empowers people to no longer be subject to aid agencies, but to be part of something to pursue their dreams. Entrepreneurs like you can change the world one idea at a time

The United Bank for Africa Chairman is no stranger to the promotion of global entrepreneurs— Elumelu’s foundation recently launched the $100 million Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, which aims to assist in growing 10,000 start-up companies across the African continent over the next 10 years
