The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 2018 Africa Senior Athletics Championships held in Asaba, Delta State, Evangelist Solomon Ogba, has described as untrue that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria got $150,000 from the Confederation of African Athletics for the event.

Ogba, also Chairman, Delta State Athletics Association, made this known through his Media Adviser, Olukayode Thomas, on Monday in Lagos.
The June 1 election has been shrouded in controversy over the alleged monopolisation of the process
Ogba, at a press conference, said the contingents had been informed earlier to send in their arrival schedule early but they did not do so until two days to their arrival.
Ogba made the declaration on Monday at a media briefing for the African Senior Athletics Championship at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, in Asaba.
The Minister made the remark after an inspection tour of the stadium ahead of the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship billed for August 1 to 5, 2018 in Asaba.
Olukayode Thomas, the Head of Media and Publicity for the championships, tagged: “Asaba 2018,” disclosed this in a statement on Sunday
The inauguration ceremony, according to a statement signed by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, is slated to begin at 2pm

Deliberating on the eligibility for president and vice president in the new guideline, stipulating among others that those occupying the post of an international sports body shall not contest for the post of president and vice president of a national federation and those who have served two consecutive terms as present of their national federation shall not contest for the post of president of the federation, the stakeholders voted in support of it
The competition is scheduled to hold from March 24 to 26

On AFN Olympic standard, Ogba said the reason for surpassing the International Association of Athletics Federations set benchmark was to ensure Nigerian athletes got to the semi-finals at least
“It will also help the athletes to run some relay races that they need to run toward perfecting their skills and techniques ahead of the Games.
“The Beijing World Championships will not be a jamboree; we are going with a lean team,” Ogba is quoted as saying in a statement released on Sunday by the spokesman of the AFN, Kayode Thomas
Ogba was quoted as saying: “This is designed to put them in top shape for the international relays and the All Nigeria Championships that will serve as trials for the Beijing 2015 IAAF World Championships and the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo.”
The event, billed to hold in Sapele, Delta State, would have the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and top government functionaries in attendance
Ogba, however, won the re-run by seven to three votes, which sparked off wide jubilation in the camp of the former Delta State Sports Commissioner
