INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, said the two-day workshop in Abuja was to build the capacity of officers on the proposed conversion of voting points to PUs across the country.
Presenting a paper, titled: “The State of Voter Access to Polling Units in Nigeria,” at the Consultative Meeting with Political Parties, held at the INEC headquarters, Abuja on February 5, Prof. Ibeanu said since polling units give meaning to the right to vote, this automatically connotes that a place to vote gives meaning to the right to vote.
He said that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration in the 326 wards was to afford every eligible person an opportunity to obtain the Permanent Voter Card.
