Obanikoro, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos.
The Lagos State chapter of the APC confirmed this
“The imbalance between the roles of the federal and state governments lies at the root of our difficulties. We need to re-balance the duties of the federal and state governments. The quest to correct the imbalance is the essence of federalism that I have advocated for so many years,” he said in an address he sent to the 2017 Annual Dinner of the King’s College Old Boys’ Association in Lagos
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Obanikoro had in 2010 sued the NBC at an Edo State High Court for damages over a fatal accident involving his daughter, Abidemi
CACOL said this in reaction to a recent suit filed by Obanikoro demanding N100 million as general damages for the forfeiture of some of his assets over the infamous arms deal scam
He filed the suit on Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The said sum was alleged to be part of the N4.7 billion that was mysteriously transferred from the imprest account of the Office of the National Security Adviser to the bank account of Sylvan McNamara, a company allegedly owned by the sons of Obanikoro

The detective said: “Obanikoro’s wife came to our office on Friday morning as part of investigations into the N4.7 billion paid into Sylvan McNamara, a company owned by her sons. During investigation, we stumbled on the account of an oil company. We then discovered that Obanikoro’s daughter was a signatory to the account of the oil company and that millions of naira was paid into the account at different times
