A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, who monitored the examination across some centres in Abakaliki, reports that there was heavy presence of armed security operatives in all centres visited.

Shittu Billiaminu, JAMB Acting Director, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Friday that the board had consistently worked with the National Identity Management Commission to ensure all candidates who wished to write the examination got their NIN.
NANS Chairman in Kaduna State, Huzaifa Bello in a statement disagreed with the JAMB on reasons it gave, hence, called for reasonable extension of electronic registration instead of risking students’ lives to travel to JAMB headquarters in their respective states capital for manual registration.
It said further extension of the registration period was not feasible. The Board, however, said only candidates with genuine proofs of failed efforts will be allowed new extension dates.
The Board gave the directive in its Weekly Bulletin of the office of the Registrar, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.
The Senate also called for the extension of the JAMB registration deadline until there is a seamless and well organised process for obtaining the NIN.
Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, announced that the examination date has been shifted from June 19 to July 3.
JAMB made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar and made it available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.
Its Deputy Chairman, Admission Committee, Dr Tayo Arinde, gave this advice while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday.
According to the board’s weekly bulletin obtained from the board’s website by the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, JAMB has also registered more than 8,000 Direct Entry candidates.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the news was unveiled by the University’s Registrar, Amos Mallo, in a statement.
Oloyede told newsmen at the board’s headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja that the fraudsters penetrated the board’s payment portal for ad hoc staff.
Prof Ishaq Oloyede, who stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja, said consequently, candidates will have the following options to access their profile during or after registration.
